Why "post everywhere" is harder than it sounds
Every platform wants something slightly different: Instagram favors Reels and officially downranks watermarked re-uploads (its own ranking explainer), TikTok ranks on completion and interactions per its For You explainer, X wants brevity or a thread, YouTube Shorts wants vertical under three minutes, and Pinterest is a search engine wearing a social network's clothes. Pasting the same file and caption into ten apps by hand is an hour of tab-switching per post, and the naive shortcuts get quietly punished.
The three honest options
Option 1: post natively in every app. Maximum control, maximum time. If you post once a week to two platforms, this is genuinely fine and costs nothing.
Option 2: use each platform's own cross-post toggles. Instagram can share Reels to Facebook, TikTok can auto-share nowhere useful, Bluesky and Threads have no official bridges. Coverage is patchy by design because platforms have no reason to feed each other.
Option 3: use a scheduler that publishes through the official APIs. One composer, one media upload, one schedule, and the tool delivers each version at the set time. This is what ad2app does across all ten platforms, and what tools like Buffer or Later do across their own supported sets. The catch to check on any tool: does it publish through the platforms' official APIs (safe), and does it let you adjust the post per platform before it goes out?
What to adapt per platform (the five-minute version)
- Caption length and tone. An X post is not a LinkedIn post. Keep the core message and trim or expand per network.
- Aspect ratio. Vertical 9:16 covers Reels, TikTok and Shorts; square or 4:5 works for feeds; Pinterest prefers tall 2:3.
- Watermarks. Instagram officially makes "low-resolution or watermarked reels" less visible (Instagram Ranking Explained). Export clean files, never re-download from TikTok.
- Hashtags. They still matter on Pinterest and somewhat on Instagram; on X they mostly add noise.
- Timing. The best time differs per platform and per audience; a scheduler makes staggered timing free.

The workflow that scales
Write the post once, in the composer, on your phone. Pick the platforms it fits, adjust the caption where the tone differs, set the time, and let it publish. Check the numbers a day later and put your energy where the reach was. That entire loop is what ad2app is built around, and the free tier lets you see the whole app before connecting a single platform.
